Dominio Público Sonoro Uruguay it's the working name of a project that aims to digitalize records that are in public domain of uruguayan performers. The group was formed in july 2013 by Ignacio (Musicology student) and Rodrigo (programmer). Over 2013 and 2014 they have aquired 700 records with the potential to be in public domain in Uruguay (the copyright term is 50 years), as well as documentation, catalogs, and books to provide them with the information to assert the copyright status of the works. As april 2014 the group is looking for funds to aquire the equipment needed to start digitalizing the records. All the metadata and the labels of the records will be uploaded to the web page of the project, and in case the records are in public domain, the audio will also be available.
